Who would have thought???

There is some sort of equity in life, I suppose. Fred is less than a year away from tenure and we had decided that upon his getting tenure that we would move to another house, one with more room and one in which we could entertain, a house with some "style" that was us and that we knew we could use as some sort of investment (I don't know...given how the economy is!) towards our eventual need to fund our need for elder care and living. the original thought was that we were "just looking" an doing research on prices and what that would buy. Then, all of a sudden the perfect house appears! And, we are placed in the position to figure out if this is "the one." It is a gift from Mother and Dad that we are in a position to place an offer on the house. And it is this gift that allows us to afford what we are calling for now our "grown up house." Never in our lives did we think that we would be able to live in a house like this and this afternoon our friend and realtor Karen called to tell us that our offer on this house had been accepted! The sellers called it a "kind offer" and "kind" is truly a reference to Dad and the type of person that he was, which only reaffirms that he and Mother have made this house a of gift to us. The house will always be surrounded with their love and surround Fred and I with their love and I cannot even explain the depth of comfort that this brings into my life. It is quite literally our dream house and it still is a shock that we will be able to call it home in just over a month -- if all goes well with closing. (No lengthy escrow periods in Indiana!). What a gift and full of so many signs that this is the perfect house for us. It is situated in such a way that none of the windows needs to have shades or curtains on the windows to prevent neighbors from looking in and being situated with woods behind us, it offers so much privacy. (If you click on the title of this entry, you'll be taken to the Virtual 360 tour of the house -- until it's deactivated by the sellers' realtor.) Again, it's our grown up dream house. Who'd have thought? And, what a wonderful gift...because of Mother and Dad.
